‘Supercopa counts for nothing’

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has insisted that his side’s impressive Supercopa performance will count for nothing against Real Sociedad.

The capital club only lost to Barcelona on away goals in midweek, but go to Anoeta tomorrow looking for their third consecutive win.

“We have shown in recent games against Madrid and Barcelona that every time we are getting closer,” he told a Press conference.

“It is difficult to explain why we did not win the Supercopa, but the reality is that we did not score.

“We competed for 180 minutes with the best team in the world.

“But if we don’t do the right things tomorrow – if we do not run, do not commit – then we won’t win.

“Real Sociedad are going through a great time at the moment. It’s going to be a tough match for us.”
