Koke: Atleti will go for it

Koke Resurreccion has reflected on how Atletico Madrid intend to be ‘together’ and prepared ‘to work’ to try and beat Barcelona this midweek.

Atleti head out to the Camp Nou on Wednesday evening for the Supercopa de Espana second leg, with the slight disadvantage of having conceded an away goal in last week’s 1-1 first leg in Madrid.

Even so, their young Spanish international midfielder is looking ahead to the test in Catalonia.

“We know that it will be more difficult there, we will try to play our game and take the trophy back with us,” enthused Koke to reporters this week.

“We have to keep our feet on the ground and play a great game. Now this is a final, a single game, we can see what can happen.

“We will play our game, we are playing in a final and we will push for it wherever it is played, in the Camp Nou, at the Calderon, or wherever.

“We have to be together as a team and everyone work, as a team, trying to play well and we will need some luck too, because we are playing against one of the best teams in the world.”

Atleti head into the game in good form, with a 5-0 win against Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.

“We work to win every game, on Sunday we managed a great result and now we have to think towards Wednesday.

“The title race? We have just begun, we have played two games, we must be calm. Madrid and Barcelona are the favourites and as the Coach has said, we have to go game by game.”
