Mathieu apologises for outburst

Jeremy Mathieu has apologised to Valencia for his outburst at the club and Coach Miroslav Djukic yesterday.

The French international re-opened the possibility of an exit from Mestalla this summer by claiming he was ‘a little angry’ to have missed out on selection for Los Che in Week 1.

Suggesting that ‘should the situation continue’, he would ‘talk with the Coach’, Mathieu’s declarations came in spite of the fact that he had been unavailable for selection last weekend, through suspension.

On from this, the defender looked to issue a correction through the club’s official website.

“At no time have I intended to throw a bomb in the locker room,” commented Mathieu.

“I feel very happy at Valencia.

“It is important to have a closed group and one with ambition.

“Where do I want to play? Although I prefer playing at centre-back, I also feel very good as a full-back.”

President Amadeo Salvo had remarked on the situation in a Press conference yesterday: “If every time someone does not play they complain, it will be hell.”

Mathieu also explained that his remarks came out of frustration at not featuring in provisional first-team plans during Tuesday's training session.
