‘Important game for Betis’

Javier Chica has enthused at Real Betis’ Europa League test this week and reflected on the importance the game against Jablonec holds.

Los Beticos travel out to the Czech Republic this week for Thursday’s Play-off round first leg, in a tie that will determine progression through to the UEFA competition’s group phase.

“We can play several games if we progress through this round. It is an important game for the club and for us,” Chica commented to reporters today.

“In addition, it is the closest game we have come and so is also the most important. The team wants to get a good result over there for the tie back here at home.”

The defender reflected on the team’s close defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend.

“In the first half we had many chances to extend our advantage and were unable to. They got their second goal right at the end.

“This is football, we have zero points, but we should stay with the positives and forget the negatives. This team is always motivated.

“Cedrick’s performance? He is a player who does not surprise us. Against Madrid he may have drawn a lot of attention, but we have seen him over the summer and know what Cedrick can do.”
