Koke has admitted that he was surprised to receive his first call-up for the senior Spanish national team.
The midfielder was named in Vicente Del Bosque’s squad to face Ecuador after impressing at the recent Under-21 European Championships.
And the Atletico Madrid man has thanked the Coach for giving him a chance.
“When I found out [about the call-up] it was not what I expected at all,” he told a Press conference.
“Being with world champions is a proud moment for me.
“The Coach has brought in some young players, testing us to see if we are ready.
“The important thing is that we have the chance to play, and we’ll try to do our best.”
