Cesc Fabregas is likely to miss Spain’s friendly against Ecuador on Wednesday after suffering a sprained ankle on Saturday.
The midfielder pulled up in Barcelona’s game against a Malaysia XI at the weekend, and the club have confirmed that tests have revealed a sprained ankle ligament.
The 26-year-old will almost certainly stay in the Catalan capital to undergo treatment and will be excluded from La Roja’s friendly squad.
It is, as yet, unclear how long Fabregas will be sidelined for.
