Jemez pleased with Rayo youth

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez has praised his young squad after they defeated Getafe in a friendly on Wednesday.

The Franjirrojos named 16 youth team players for the win over the Azulones, and the Coach has admitted that it is pleasing to have such strength in depth, but has conceded that they need to invest in some experience.

“I am very happy with this game,” he told a Press conference. “Today, even with the kids, we managed to beat Getafe.

“Among the 20 players, 16 were from the cantera, so that is great news for our future.

“We need these young players, because we are not the sort of team that can afford to sign 24 experienced players.

“But the President and sporting director know what I want and that is to bring in a few new names before the start of the season.”
