Valencia squeeze past Everton in Miami

Valencia finished the Guinness International Champions Cup in fifth place after 1-0 win over Everton on Tuesday.

Miroslav Djukic named a relatively strong starting XI in Miami, handing places to Jeremy Mathieu, Aly Cissokho and Oriel Romeu.

However, Los Che couldn’t break down the Premier League side’s defence in the first half, with Robert Ibanez going closest on 23 minutes.

After the break though, the Mestalla side broke the deadlock thanks to Michel’s strike on 52 minutes – the 25-year-old hitting a powerful effort from outside the area and into the bottom corner.

That was enough for the Liga team, who ended the tournament in fifth place.
