Martinez asks for Deulofeu patience

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has asked for patience with Gerard Deulofeu as the youngster adapts to life on loan at Goodison Park.

The Barcelona winger [pictured, right] made his debut for the Toffees as a substitute in the 2-1 friendly defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend, and Martinez has called for the Everton fans to give the 19-year-old time to settle in at his new club.

“We have to show some patience with him. He is very young but we are going to enjoy his quality and against Madrid we saw a little of the talent he possesses,” the former Swansea City and Wigan Athletic manager told reporters.

“Deulofeu decided to come to Everton and we must look after him. The support of our fans at Goodison Park will help him to improve.

“It’s obvious he has the talent to help our team and we are very enthusiastic with his progress.”
