La Real warn Vela over comments

Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela has been warned over comments he posted on Twitter over the weekend.

The Basques are preparing for the new season in England and warmed up with a comfortable 8-1 win over semi-professional outfit Histon on Saturday, an exercise that did not sit too well with the Mexican international.

The former Arsenal man [pictured, left] believes games such as this do not do La Real any favours as the team prepares to enter the qualifying stages of the Champions League.

“An 8-1 victory…with games like these it is difficult to prepare for such an important season,” wrote Vela.

A report in Mundo Deportivo says new boss Jagoba Arrasate then asked Vela if he would delete his comments, which had already been re-tweeted by various people including teammate Inigo Martinez, and he was warned about any repetition of them.

Ironically, the English club responded to Vela’s words with a tweet of its own via the same social network.

“Vela’s reaction after a not unexpected defeat. Welcome to the Conference North, lads,” it read.
