Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho claims the Spanish giants are currently on tour in the United States because of him.
Los Blancos are due to face Mourinho’s Chelsea team in the final of the International Champions Cup in Miami on Wednesday, with the Portuguese maintaining at a Press conference that Carlo Ancelotti’s men will only be there because he planned it when he was still boss at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“You always want to play against the best and Madrid are playing in this tournament because I organised it and I am a professional, and I did it knowing that I would not be sitting on their bench,” he insisted.
Mourinho went on to say that he is under no pressure against his old club and maintained the game is only a pre-season test to evaluate his players’ development over the summer.
“I will be using one team in the first half and a different one in the second. The goal in pre-season is to improve and arrive at the first League game in the best possible condition.”
