Martino on Santos win & Cesc’s future

Gerardo Martino was pleased with Barcelona’s 8-0 win over Santos on Friday evening, but couldn’t avoid questions about Cesc Fabregas.

The Blaugrana battered the Brazilian side yesterday to claim the Gamper Trophy, and the Argentine Coach was happy with the intensity of his players.

But the tactician unable to answer whether Fabregas will join Manchester United this summer.

“The pressure is what I liked most about the game,” he told a Press conference.

“I was interested in winning possession back high up the pitch and we did that in the first and second halves.

“I was interested in finding the first positive responses [from my players], especially the concepts of intensity and pressure … the team plays very good football and we want to insist in three or four aspect of our play so that we can have more possibilities.

“I’m very pleased with the team. We’ll see if we can increase the technical quality. If it isn’t possible, I’m happy with what I have.

“I have spoken with Cesc and he told me what he thought.

“The idea of not counting on him doesn’t enter my mind, but the player also has to decide. I dare to say that he will stay.”
