Former Barcelona man Pep Guardiola has commented on when Bayern first approached him for his services, and denied interest in David Luiz.
Barcelona have been linked with a move this summer for Chelsea’s centre-back, but were thought to be facing competition from the Bavarians.
However, their Coach has looked to distance them from interest in the Brazilian international.
“That’s a rumour in England. David Luiz will not come to Munich. I have five centre-backs and am satisfied with them,” Guardiola told reporters this week.
The Coach was asked of the belief that contact from Bayern for the post of Coach began as far back as a preseason friendly in 2011, when Coach of Barcelona.
“I said that perhaps I could be a Coach here. But that is something that you can never predict in football.
“At that moment I was totally focused on Barcelona.”
