Song: Barca will move forward

Alex Song has outlined Barcelona’s determination to ‘move forward’ after Tito Vilanova’s exit and ‘try to win everything’ under Gerardo Martino.

Barca are preparing today for this evening’s third preseason friendly of the summer, at Lechia Gdansk.

It is a game that was rearranged to today, having been cancelled 10 days prior in the wake of Vilanova’s resignation as Coach due to ill health.

With his replacement Martino now in place and the team in Poland for the rearranged fixture, Song has outlined the team’s commitment to move on.

“That Tito is not here is bad news, he is a very good person and we all feel sad, but we have to keep going and hope that he returns soon,” the midfielder reflected to reporters today.

“When we heard the news about Tito, we all dropped our heads, we had no heart to play this game, but it has been a few days and we must move forward.

“We can think of the game and to keep fighting, as Tito will do against his disease.

“Martino looks to be a good person, we are getting to know him and the challenge with him is the same as usual at Barca – this team must try to win everything.”

Song was asked of former Arsenal and current Barca colleague Cesc Fabregas, who has been linked this summer with a move to Manchester United.

“I see Cesc focused on being here and I believe that he wants to continue at the club.”
