Rayo have CAS appeal heard

Rayo Vallecano have now had their appeal for a place in Europe this upcoming season heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Madrid outfit qualified for the Europa League for 2013-14 due to their League placing last term, but have so far been denied entry after failing to have a UEFA licence approved.

Whilst their application and subsequent appeals at judicial level have been rejected on the grounds supporting the original ruling that the club’s debts and money owed contravene UEFA rules, the club have still had the last hope of an appeal with CAS pending.

Whilst it has failed to appear on CAS’ list of cases to be heard, Rayo have had theirs taken in on Tuesday morning and tomorrow a final ruling will be announced.

Currently, it is Sevilla who are preparing in Rayo’s place for Europa League action, beginning on Thursday with a third qualifying round first leg against Mladost Podgorica.
