Madrid start US training

Real Madrid have begun preparations for the second stage of their preseason plan this summer, with training held in Los Angeles.

Flying out to the States on Sunday evening for a four-game tour of the country, Carlo Ancelotti’s side took to the training pitch for the first time at their LA base on Monday evening.

Xabi Alonso and Raphael Varane worked to separate routines as they continued respective recoveries from injury, whilst Asier Illarramendi worked in the gym.

The session was most notable for the spectators, with President Florentino Perez watching on, alongside former Inter Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

Former Madrid man and newly retired David Beckham, who spent five years on the books at LA Galaxy, was also watching on from the sidelines, having also visited the team’s hotel in Beverly Hills earlier to say hello.
