Real Betis have confirmed that they have now completed the signing of Markus Steinhofer on a free transfer.
The versatile right-sided defender, who can also play in midfield, has passed a medical for Los Beticos and today has now been confirmed as having completed a move from Basel.
Betis were reported as closing in on the 27-year-old at the weekend and have now signed the German to a three-year contract.
Former Bayern Munich youth Steinhofer joins the club on a free transfer, after his contract with Basel expired last month.
“I am very happy to play for Betis,” Steinhofer told Betis’ official website upon announcement of the deal.
“This is a very important step in my life and in my football career.
“I know I am at a big club and a in a spectacular League. Betis have been a club that have been following me for a long time and I have to thank them.
“They were seventh in a League as demanding as La Liga last season and this year they will be in Europe. These are some of the reasons as to why I have decided to come here.”
