Zidane Zidane believes that being a great player does not guarantee success in his new career as a Coach.
New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the Frenchman will assist him on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, although Zidane believes his career as a player does not go hand in hand with being a winner in his new role.
“Being a good player does not guarantee you are going to be a good Coach. It can help, but nothing more,” he maintained in an interview with L’Equipe, whilst also conceding the delay in him obtaining his coaching badge had a reason.
“I was scared, scared and afraid to trust people and feel betrayed. I was fearful of trusting in something then being disappointed.
“Eventually I gained more confidence and opened up more easily,” admitted Zidane.
The former Juventus and Real Madrid player is set to begin his new career on a football field when pre-season training commences on Monday.
