Deulofeu makes Everton move

Barcelona have confirmed that Gerard Deulofeu has joined Everton on loan for the 2013-14 season, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Several top European clubs had been interested in the young Barca winger [pictured, left], including Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

However, the player’s agent, Gines Carvajal, put the finishing touches to the 19-year-old’s move on Wednesday evening, with the recent appointment of Spaniard Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park thought to have been a deciding factor in the operation.

“I’m delighted to be going to a club like Everton with so much history and can’t wait to get started,” Deulofeu told reporters, who asked him to define his style of play.

“I’m an attacking player who plays out wide, on the wings. I’m fast, good in one-on-one situations and someone who can help the team,” he answered.

The Catalans are hoping Deulofeu will get some valuable experience playing in the Premier League after he ruled out the option of featuring for Barcelona B in La Segunda for another year.

The player is currently on holiday after taking part in Spain’s unsuccessful bid to win the World Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
