Baptistao: A dream come true

Leo Baptistao has enthused at ‘the dream come true’ in signing for Atletico Madrid, where he hopes to ‘learn a lot’ from his new teammates and Coach.

The 20-year-old forward, who moved across the Spanish capital earlier this summer from Rayo Vallecano in a €5.9m deal, was today presented to the media.

“Today is an important day for me, I am very excited to have signed for Atletico Madrid,” Baptistao enthused.

“It has been a dream to play for a big club and here it is coming true.

“I arrive here eager to learn and to win. I’m very young and I will bring a lot to the club.

“I do not think about the pressure. I’m young and I will learn a lot at this club alongside very good players, of high quality, and from the Coach, who knows a lot about football.

“For a boy of 20, things have happened very fast, my debut, the goals, and this move to a big team.

“Where can I play? As a striker or behind the striker, on the left or right. I’m a normal player with quality, technique and a long stride, with pace.”
