Canales starts recovery work

Sergio Canales has reported back to Valencia today to begin the first day of his recovery from a torn hamstring.

The 22-year-old injured himself whilst in action during the closing stages of Spain’s win against Russia in La Rojita’s opening game of the UEFA Under-21 Championship at the beginning of June.

Originally thought to be just a minor strain, tests confirmed its severity soon after and set the player a two-month absence period.

Ruled out of the opening stages of Los Che’s preseason, Canales has opted, after consultation with medical staff, to avoid surgery on the injury.

Today saw his return to Valencia’s training facilities alongside new club doctor Juan Albors, where the duo have set to work on the attacking midfielder’s recovery.
