Spain U20 defender Derik has admitted that the team are delighted with their group stage performances.
La Rojita finished top of their group at the U20 World Cup in Turkey, winning all three of their games.
But the Real Madrid Castilla centre-back has insisted that the squad are now focused on beating Mexico in the next round.
“The team is playing well, we’re putting in some good performances and winning our matches quite comfortably,” he told reporters.
“We’re over the first hurdle and now that’s over and done with. Now, we are focusing on the first knock-out round.
“The boss is giving me the confidence I need and I feel as though I am playing well. I’m happy.
“The team is improving with each game, we are united and if we continue to advance through the competition, I think we’ll improve even more.”
