Kondogbia focused on Spain only

Geoffrey Kondogbia says he will only consider interest from Real Madrid after the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he anticipates facing Spain tomorrow.

The Sevilla midfielder has been linked with Madrid this summer having impressed during his debut campaign in La Liga.

However, as he reflected today, his focus is not on his club situation at the moment.

“I have said many times. This is not the time to talk about this when I am at the World Cup,” Kondogbia told reporters at a Press conference today.

“Now I am focused on the national team and my current team. When the tournament ends, then we shall see.”

The midfielder was talking ahead of tomorrow’s FIFA U-20 World Cup meeting between Spain and France, which La Rojita only need a point from to guarantee top spot, with Les Bleuets in second.

“I know a lot of them from the European Under-19 Championship last summer. They have very good players and with the ball are very strong. They are probably the favourite to win the title and they won the European titles, but it is not worth discussing who is favourite until it is proven on the field. We have to win this game and finish in first place in the group.

“We have no pressure, we know it is an important game for us, we face a great team and we want to show our level. Just that. We are not thinking of the pressure.

“No Pogba? It will be difficult with or without him, we knew this would be the hardest game we had and so we’re going to compete for first place with them.”
