Cesc, Soldado skip training

Cesc Fabregas and Roberto Soldado were absent from Spain’s latest training session, which was a light workout for Sunday’s starters.

Fabregas and Soldado are both confirmed this week as doubts for Thursday’s Confederations Cup semi-final against Italy due to muscle injuries sustained at the weekend against Nigeria.

The duo subsequently both sat out Monday night’s training session, which for the other players involved in Sunday’s game played out in high humidity, was only a half-hour stretching and jogging exercise.

A more intense session was prepared for the players who didn’t feature against Nigeria, on from the playing staff having taken the morning off and visited the local beach.

Fabregas and Soldado’s respective absences from yesterday’s workout has increased speculation that they will not make it back in time to face the Italians in Fortaleza.

Fernando Torres is seen as in prime contention to replace Soldado, whilst the signs from Monday’s session indicate that Fabregas’ spot is between David Silva and Juan Mata.
