Fabregas set for tests

Cesc Fabregas’ early substitution for Spain against Nigeria was down to a muscle injury, whilst Sergio Busquets was unwell pre-game.

Fabregas’ withdrawal came just 10 minutes into the second half of Sunday’s Confederations Cup group game against the Nigerians, which ended 3-0 in La Roja’s favour.

Speculated originally as sickness due to the humid conditions the game was played in, it has since been confirmed that the Barcelona man was struggling with a muscle-related injury that will be subject to more tests on Monday.

Meanwhile, teammate Busquets was unwell before yesterday’s game, say Telecinco, but was able to play out the game.

Yesterday’s venue of Fortaleza will also host Spain’s semi-final against Italy.
