Real Betis have announced the signing of former Barcelona B and Espanyol playmaker Joan Verdu on a four-year contract.
The 30-year-old departed from Cornella-El Prat this summer having failed to agree a new contract with Los Pericos, ending a four-year stint with the Catalan club.
On from this, Betis were seen as in competition with Villarreal for his signature.
Today, Los Beticos have reported that they have won the battle and signed Verdu to a four-year deal, having seen the player pass a medical.
“Both Real Betis and Verdu have made a major effort to culminate in his arrival at Benito Villamarin to be one of the pillars of the Betis team in their return to European competition,” read Betis’ statement released on Monday.
