Joan Verdu wants his Real Betis to get off to a winning start in 2014 by beating Real Valladolid next Saturday.
The Verdiblancos ended the year bottom of the table, but the forward hopes his side can have a better year this time around – starting at the weekend.
“We have to think as if this is our last game,” he told reporters. “Hopefully things will go as planned and we will start to climb the table.
“I’m sure we’ll get out of this current situation – I’m quite sure of it.
“I’m aware that we can give more, especially me. But we all want to grow as a collective and reverse this current form.
“We are the first to admit that we can be better, and we must show that we can do well in our next match.”
