Albiol: Respect and enthusiasm

Raul Albiol has commented on Spain’s need to face Tahiti this evening with ‘respect and enthusiasm’.

La Roja are expected to win and by a significant margin against the French Polynesia outfit ranked 138th in the world.

“We have watched videos of Tahiti, they are the weakest opponent on paper,” began Albiol to reporters this week.

“But they have nothing to lose and will be motivated to play against the world champions.

“We will be 11 against 11. We will have to go into the game with respect and enthusiasm.

“The good thing about this team is that anyone can play, we can have two different teams and not see a notable difference.”

The Real Madrid man was asked of seeing club teammate Iker Casillas return to competitive action after almost six months on the sidelines.

“I was delighted to see Iker playing again. Maybe he was a little nervous after five months without playing.

“For him it is important to start and to return to the national team. And for us too because he is our captain.”
