Spain changes expected for Tahiti

Spain’s latest training session saw Vicente del Bosque run through work with the squad’s alternatives, who are expected to feature against Tahiti.

Having arrived in Rio de Janeiro during Monday, La Roja’s preparations for their second group game of the Confederations Cup this Thursday at Maracana continued with training in the evening, overnight UK time.

Hosted by Vasco de Gama’s stadium, those who started in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Uruguay worked separately on light recovery work, whilst those who did not feature worked with Del Bosque under instruction.

It is speculated that a number of the squad’s alternatives will start Spain’s meeting with Tahiti, who are ranked 138th in the world and yesterday lost their opening Group B game 6-1 to Nigeria.

The team’s next training session will be held once more at Vasco de Gama’s ground at 11pm UK time.

Early speculation is that Del Bosque may change the entire starting XI to go with a proposed team of: Valdes, Azpilicueta, Albiol, Javi Martinez, Monreal; Navas, Cazorla, Mata, Silva; Villa, Torres.
