Tahiti Coach Eddy Etaeta has reflected that a goal against Spain on Thursday would be ‘a great thing’ for the minnows to achieve.
Ranked 138th in the world, the Oceania representatives lost their opening Group B game 6-1 to Nigeria yesterday.
“Scoring a goal here is worth much. Scoring against Spain will be a great thing,” Etaeta told reporters afterwards.
“Spain are not interested in finishing the game at 10-0. Spain are very respectful and they respect the small teams. I do not think we will lose by an historic scoreline.
“We are proud to be here and we consider ourselves champions for the improvement shown by the players.”
