Mata: Many reasons to win

Juan Mata has commented on the ‘many reasons’ that Spain want to win the Confederations Cup this summer.

La Roja are counting down to this Sunday and their first game in the summer competition, which they are attempting to win for the first time.

“There are many reasons that make this tournament important to us – we have never won it, it is being held in Brazil, which means playing in Brazil, and it would be fantastic to play the final at Maracana, a mythical stadium,” Mata commented to Telecinco this week.

Spain’s first match is against Uruguay.

“Luis Suarez is very good, not only because he scores goals and provides assists, but for everything he brings to the pitch.

“We have to be very careful with him.”

It is not yet clear who Vicente del Bosque will line up for the team in goal.

“The other day we saw what Iker is capable of. Deciding which goalkeeper to play is a difficult decision for Vicente, because all three merit starting for any team.”
