Zidane permitted assistant role

Zinedine Zidane has reportedly convinced Real Madrid President Florentino Perez to allow him to work as assistant Coach at the club next season.

Zidane has been suggested in recent days by Perez as taking on more responsibility at the club and acting in a capacity likely to be that of a sporting director.

However, reports have been that the former midfielder is more keen on taking an assistant’s role alongside the club’s next Coach, expected to be Carlo Ancelotti, who previously worked with Zidane at Juventus.

On from this situation, Perez and Zidane held a two-hour meeting on Wednesday evening, when his role and its responsibilities was apparently discussed.

Marca report that the Frenchman appealed to the President to take a role closer to the field, out of his desire to continue a coaching direction he has been studying for in recent months.

Whilst Perez is seen as still pushing to have Zizou act in a wider role to include management of the whole project, he is believed to have agreed for the former No 5 to work from the bench.
