Ankle injury for Camacho

Ignacio Camacho has picked up a sprained ankle in Spain Under-21s’ match against the Netherlands, but is expected to recover in good time.

Yesterday saw La Rojita confirm top spot in Group B in this summer’s UEFA Under-21 Championship, and line up a semi-final with Norway, thanks to a 3-0 win over the Dutch.

Camacho, however, provided concern for the team, as he was forced off in discomfort just seven minutes into the second half, to be replaced by Asier Illarramendi.

However, whilst tests have confirmed that the Malaga midfielder has suffered a grade II sprain of his left ankle, his participation in the tournament in Israel is reportedly not necessarily over.

Camacho is reported as likely to return available for selection in time for Saturday’s semi-final in Netanya.
