Real Madrid President Florentino Perez says that nobody at the club will be ‘haunted’ by the Portuguese’s departure to Chelsea.
In an interview with Marca, the 66-year-old also gave his views on Carlo Ancelotti and the role Zinedine Zidane might play in the future.
"I won't talk about Ancelotti because he is under contract with another club, but if you're asking me whether Ancelotti is a Coach we like then I'd point out that he has nearly signed for Real Madrid twice before.
“He's won two Champions Leagues, knows how to handle big-name players and is used to working under pressure. Missing out on coaching Real Madrid for a third time would feel like a curse for him", Perez maintained.
“When we brought Mourinho in we wanted to sign a Coach who would make his presence felt and target winning the Champions League. We didn't manage that but we did make an important step up.
“We belong among the top four teams in Europe and have been there for the last three years. Mourinho is how he is. Everyone's personality is different. He always demands the highest standards in everything he does. We will remember him fondly, but no one here is going to be haunted by Mourinho,” he insisted.
“As for Zidane, he has always had the Real Madrid spirit and been interested in joining the club. Now he wants to be a Coach.
“He has reinvented himself and is straining at the leash. He is going to help me take us into this new era”, the 'Los Blancos' president declared.
