Carlos backs Zidane, warns Ancelotti

Roberto Carlos has encouraged former teammate Zinedine Zidane to take the Coach’s role at Real Madrid, and warned Carlo Ancelotti of its complexity.

The Frenchman has been confirmed on more than one occasion by President Florentino Perez as taking a more influential position at the club from this summer, most likely in the role of sporting director.

However, speculation has been encouraged somewhat by Perez that Zidane could in fact be Madrid’s Coach for next term, if Ancelotti is not released from Paris Saint-Germain.

It is a possibility that Zidane’s former Galactico teammate is behind.

“Zidane is capable of holding any post inside Real Madrid,” Marca today quote Carlos, who has recently moved back into management himself with Sivasspor in Turkey.

“With his history, his calmness and his intelligence, he could do anything he likes. Coach, assistant Coach, a director, an executive…

“He would do all of it with great assurance. He is a fantastic person for the club.

“Ancelotti? He is a great manager, but the problem at Real Madrid is one of adaptation. Here no-one arrives and convinces from day one, we must adapt to the philosophy of the club.

“And the palyers also have to understand this. I hope they do this year.

“The Coach that comes, be that Ancelotti or whoever, has to know that to work at Real Madrid is not easy.

“Here we must always win either the League, Champions League or Copa del Rey and, if that is not achieved, there are controversies and conflict.”
