Barca plan Bartra loan

Barcelona are reportedly keen to renew Marc Bartra’s contract this summer, before sending him out on loan to another Primera Division side.

The young defender’s current deal expires in June 2014 and, despite struggling for playing time last term, the Catalans are understood to be pushing to keep hold of him beyond that.

Barca, however, are also keen to send Bartra out on loan next year, to help in his development as a centre-back, with a preference said to be that that Under-21 international finds a place at another Primera Division team with European aspirations.

Should Bartra not accept a new deal, then he will likely be sold this summer. The player’s current buyout clause has been set €30m, although it is understood to have dropped to €12m in light of the player not meeting a certain percentage of appearances for the team.
