Spain’s squad numbers for the Confederations Cup have been revealed, with Roberto Soldado taking Xabi Alonso’s traditional No 14.
Most of the players have maintained numbers from previous squads, but Pedro Rodriguez has relinquished the No 7 he wore at Euro 2012 to David Villa, to take the No 11 that was worn 12 months ago by Alvaro Negredo.
Carles Puyol’s absence sees his usual No 5 jersey handed to Cesar Azpilicueta, whilst Alonso’s No 14 is taken by Valencia forward Soldado. Nacho Monreal is handed No 19.
Spain will wear the shirt numbers for all games played at this summer’s Confederations Cup in Brazil, as well as in the two pre-tournament friendlies against Haiti and Republic of Ireland.
Meanwhile, the latest FIFA World Rankings have been published, with La Roja maintaining their spot at the top for yet another month.
