Baptistao: Atleti a big step

Leo Baptistao has enthused at his move from Rayo Vallecano to Atletico Madrid this week, describing it as a ‘dream come true’.

The Brazilian was confirmed by both Madrid outfits as having transferred to the Vicente Calderon in a deal believed to have been agreed as long as six months ago at a reported cost of €5.9m.

“I’ve fulfilled a dream I had since I was little. Playing in an elite team like Atletico. I really want to start the preseason, train and meet my new teammates,” commented Baptistao to Atleti’s official website after completing the transfer.

“[New Atleti teammates and fellow Brazilians] Filipe [Luis] and Diego [Costa] and have complimented me on my move. I am happy because they will play with them and I'm sure I can learn a lot because they are great players. It's a big step I'll make in my career.

“I really want to get to work. My position and my mission characteristics are to make goals. This is what I will bring,

“This team is amazing. They have shown the level they have. Winning the Cup and getting directly qualification to the Champions.

“They have shown that they can fight with the best teams in Spain and be at their level.

“Simeone? He's an amazing Coach who is showing as a technician everything he was as a player.

“It is an honour to be at his service and to get to know his work and methods. I can learn a lot with him.”
