Lendoiro: Depor’s return starts now

Deportivo de La Coruna President Augusto Cesar Lendoiro has said the job of returning the club to La Primera begins right now.

The Galicians were relegated at the weekend following a 1-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad and Lendoiro believes the answer to getting back among the elite lies in the hands of Depor’s younger players.

“It was a really sad night for all people connected with Deportivo. During the past few weeks it seemed that we were going to be saved but we were not able to manage it, so we need to get our heads up again.

“Tomorrow is another day and we have to think about getting back to La Primera from now onwards, which is where we belong,” he told a Press conference.

“I promise to do everything I can to return to the elite with a project depending on youth.

“This demotion could be even worse than the one of two years ago but I have to praise the support of the fans, particularly the 8,000 who renewed their season tickets this week without knowing which division we would be playing in.

“So congratulations to a very special group of supporters and also the Coach and players. We could not have asked for more as they have given body and soul,” he concluded.
