Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin says it has been a season to remember thanks to Diego Simeone and Radamel Falcao.
In a letter published on the club’s official website, Atleti’s major shareholder also praised the ‘commitment and professionalism’ of Monaco-bound Radamel Falcao, whilst showing his ‘heartfelt thanks’ to President Enrique Cerezo, the fans, players, coaches, sponsors and staff.
“It has been a season to remember with two major titles achieved against Chelsea and Real Madrid, two of the economic powers in world football. We also came third in our own championship and conceded the least number of goals,” he wrote.
“The average attendance went up so maximum respect to the team and the fans. Ultimately it was a dream campaign and we must keep on dreaming together so we can be stronger than others.
“I sincerely hope that what we have done so far is nothing but the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship beyond results on the pitch, transmitting the values our players hold at this club.
“I want to thank and express publicly the commitment, professionalism and performances of Radamel Falcao, a very special player who is leaving us, and also Diego Simeone, who has brought us so much happiness.
“Thanks also go to Enrique Cerezo for his dedication and commitment on a personal level and to the club’s employees who have shown skill, commitment and enthusiasm.
“Without them it would have been impossible to maintain the current level of competition,” he concluded.
