Orbaiz to leave Rubin Kazan

Former Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Pablo Orbaiz is to leave Rubin Kazan, according to the club’s official website.

Orbaiz, 34, joined the Russian outfit last summer from Bilbao after spending the 2011-12 season on loan at Olympiacos, going on to make 36 appearances for Rubin and scoring one goal, against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon in a Europa League clash.

Pamplona-born Orbaiz came through the ranks with Osasuna and represented Spain four times, making his debut in August 2002 against Hungary in a testimonial match for Ferenc Puskas, and also captained the Under-20 squad that won the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship.

“The club wants to thank Pablo for his performances last season and wishes him every success in the future, both in football and in his personal life,” read a statement on the website.
