‘Florentino passionate about Neymar’

Neymar’s representative Wagner Ribeiro has reflected on Real Madrid President Florentino Perez’ ‘passion’ for the new Barcelona signing.

Madrid were seen as having entered the bidding process for the 21-year-old Brazilian, before he agreed to a reported €28m move to Barca.

For his representative, who works alongside the player’s father Neymar da Silva, Neymar did not move for the money.

“He is going to earn less that Messi, but with a salary like that of Kaka at Madrid,” reflected Ribeiro to Mesa Redonda, on TV Gazeta.

“The boy grew up and did not move for the money. He asked to play for Barcelona because they are the club of his heart.

“Florentino Perez is in love with Neymar, he is passionate about him. He was on the phone for 15 minutes and thanking me because he knows that I have never hid – if he were my son, I would have liked him to play at Real Madrid.

“For Neymar it was time to exit. He is pleased with what he did here and now it is time for other challenges for him.

“He will play in the Champions League and I think he can do well.

“Santos fought for him until the last moment. Vice-President Odilio Rodrigues wanted him until 2016 and made a fabulous proposal with sponsorship and everything, for him to stay.”
