Spain’s Confederations squad due

Vicente del Bosque is expected to pull few surprises when today naming his 23-man squad to take to the Confederations Cup.

The Coach is seen as likely to stick with a majority of players that he has worked with in recent tournaments and competitive friendlies.

Iker Casillas has already been confirmed in various interviews by Del Bosque as in the squad, despite not featuring for Real Madrid since January, with Pepe Reina and Victor Valdes due to be his back-ups once more.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Nacho Monreal are seen as the full-backs Del Bosque will favour to back up Alvaro Arbeloa and Jordi Alba, meaning no place for Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran Torres.

Carles Puyol is not going to recover in time from knee surgery undergone in March, so Raul Albiol will likely back up Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique.

Midfield is speculated as including as many as 10 faces, including Bayern’s Javi Martinez, who has been left out of recent squads, and Sevilla’s Jesus Navas.

Attack is also speculated as welcoming back Fernando Torres alongside David Villa and Pedro Rodriguez, meaning no place for the likes of Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado.

The official 23 will be announced at 11.30am UK time.
