De Gea, Isco in Euro U-21 squad

Manchester United’s David de Gea and Malaga’s Isco Alarcon are notable inclusions in Spain’s squad for the European Under-21 Championships.

De Gea and Isco were both seen as outside bets to make Vicente del Bosque’s senior squad for the Confederations Cup this year, but their inclusion in Julen Lopetegui’s means that they will not be heading out to Brazil.

For the summer’s international youth tournament to be held in Israel, defending champions Spain have also included the likes of Cristian Tello, Thiago Alcantara and Iker Muniain.

Those named could miss their club side’s final League game of the season, as they are required to meet up next Monday for preparations before heading out to Israel a week later on June 3.

La Rojita have been drawn against Russia, Germany and the Netherlands.
