Madrid ‘could adopt Bayern model’

Former Real Madrid player Manolo Sanchis has suggested that the club’s future could involve adopting a philosophy similar to that of Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga is on more stable financial ground than La Liga and Sanchis, with presidential elections at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, believes that a new approach may benefit Los Blancos.

“I believe that in the environment the ambition should be to do things once, neither better nor worse, just differently,” commented Sanchis on El Partido de las 12 this week.

“A profile similar to that of Bayern and not just from me, but done as a philosophy. I do not see it as a bad thing for that to occur someday.

“Would I run for President one day? I repeat. That project should be run one day, and not necessarily just through me.”

To qualify to run as President at Real Madrid, a candidate must have at least 20 years at the club as a member and be able to endorse personally 15 per cent of Madrid’s overall budget, which equates to an amount of around €75m.
