Messi out in Qatar

After taking part in Barcelona’s League title celebrations on Sunday evening, Lionel Messi has flown out to Qatar for promotional work.

The Argentine skipped Barca’s Sunday evening match with Real Valladolid, but was in attendance for the League trophy presentation that followed at the Camp Nou.

On from that, the 25-year-old took a 2am flight out to Doha where, with permission from the club, he is now taking part in a series of promotional activities.

Messi is a global ambassador of Qatari telecommunications company Ooredoo, a company that in association with the player’s charity foundation is running initiatives this week in support of children.

The player, who will meet a group of ‘young heroes’ during his trip, is also down to run a training master class to a group of boys and girls, winners of competitions held in Qatar and Oman.

At a brief Press conference upon his arrival, Messi considered his current situation at Barcelona.

“Winning the League was very good, but the goal is always to win everything,” he commented to reporters today.

“There was no getting around Bayern, this year is ended and we must now prepare to return at our best for next year.

“My future? I have never thought about playing for another club other than Barca.”
