Thibaut Courtois has admitted that Atletico Madrid were somewhat fortunate to beat Real Madrid on Friday evening.
The Rojiblancos beat their city rivals 2-1 yesterday to claim the Copa del Rey title, but the goalkeeper has conceded that the woodwork came to his rescue a few times.
“I think we did well,” he told reporters. “We were lucky with the shots hitting the post.
“But we played well and I think we dominated.
“I made two good saves and I'm very happy about that.
“I have been criticised a few times when playing against Real Madrid, but today I did well.
“The fans were unbelievable.”
