Pedro: I intend to stay

Pedro Rodriguez has reflected that even with increased competition, his intention is to stay at Barcelona next year.

The forward has struggled to match his form in front of goal for the national team with the Catalans, and he currently has just five League goals this season to his name.

However, in contemplating the season that is coming to a close with Barca as champions, the 25-year-old is optimistic for the future.

“I very happy to have won the League and for the team’s effort,” considered Pedro in talking to the assembled media today.

“Maybe, on a personal level, I would have liked to have done more. I want to continue to have the confidence of the Coach and next year return to the same level.

“We wanted to win the League, the most important title. In five years we have won four, which shows the consistency of the group.

“My future? Let’s see how the season ends, but it is not something to worry about. There will be time to talk about it. You never know what can happen. My intention is to stay in this great club with these players. I am calm and I hope to stay. We do not know what will happen in the future.

“Do I see the club signing another striker? There is always debate on the front-line. It is the line with the biggest contribution.

“The strikers we have here have scored many goals, like Messi and Villa. But it is normal to strengthen that line too.

“I always try to help the team, as does Alexis and Villa. I have scored fewer than in other years, but in the future I will be fine, certainly.”
