Filipe Luis has reflected on the unique occasion Friday’s Copa del Rey Final will be and on how Atletico Madrid will try to break their run against Real Madrid.
Atleti are preparing for this week’s Cup final hosted at the Santiago Bernabeu, which as their left-back has reflected, will be a game to not hold back in.
“A final is a final. It is not a normal game, it is special. The fans will be equally divided. It will be a different atmosphere there,” commented Filipe to reporters this week.
“It is a game that attracts a lot of attention. It is unlike any League match. Nobody saves anything. Even with any discomforts you play it the same.
“Nothing is reserved. We have a tremendous dream of winning this game for the fans.
“During the games I’ve played against Madrid with Depor I have managed to win. With Atletico, no. They have a great team. They are very good.
“Atleti have not only lost to them, they have also drawn games and sooner or later this will change. At some point that winless streak will break for Atleti.
“They are favourites, yet we know that we will match them and make it tough. It will be decided by the smallest details.
“Against Madrid we must not get caught disorganised when they counter-attack. They play to take the ball and move out fast, with a lethal counter-attack.
“It hurts you a lot. You have to be very attentive to these counters. No defensive mistakes.”
