Resino: Football unfair to Celta

Abel Resino commented that Celta Vigo deserved a result against Atletico Madrid, whilst he has not given up their survival hopes.

The Galicians lost 3-1 on Wednesday evening to Atleti, to remain 19th in the table and two points away from safety, but now having played a game more than their immediate rivals.

“Football has been unfair with Celta,” commented Resino in assessing yesterday’s defeat.

“The team was superior in the first half to Atletico Madrid, but their first goal really hurt us, it was a blow and it allowed Atletico to play as they like to, on the counter-attack.

“When at 1-2, we had some hope to get back on to level terms, but we had to take risks to do so and that cost us the third goal for them.

“I still believe that in football while there is life there is hope. The most important thing now is to recover the team because they put in a tremendous effort and this has been a hard blow.

“The situation is difficult but now we cannot do anything. We need to think towards the Sevilla game. We can add nine points in the next three games.”
